Code of Business Conduct and Ethics

Our success has been based on hard work and an unwavering commitment to honesty and integrity in everything we do. Today’s business environment is complex and much has changed in recent years, but one thing that has never changed is our belief that maintaining our good reputation depends on each employee being personally responsible for our conduct.

As a world-class company, an important step in meeting our day-to-day ethics and compliance responsibilities is to be mindful of our commitments to each other, to our business partners, to our customers, and to the communities where we work and live. To ensure that we all understand our ethics and compliance responsibilities, we have established a Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. This Code provides information about our personal responsibilities, including complying with the law and applying our good judgment each and every day. Nortek and its subsidiary employees must read and understand the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and participate in required trainings.

We have established an EICC Environmental Dashboard in which we are tracking facility-based greenhouse gas emissions, electricity consumption, renewable energy, water usage and hazardous waste disposal to refine metrics and define goals for reductions.
A robust recycling program that since January 2013 has decreased our annual disposal costs from $122,162.54, to this year's projected disposal cost of $49,854.04. During that same period, we removed over 289,919 pounds from Oregon landfills.
Recycled material includes paper, light bulbs, toner cartridges, aerosol, hydraulic fluids and antifreeze, Tyvek, all electronics, batteries, wire cardboard, soft plastics and hard plastics, glass, all metals and wood.
Scrap melamine foam is sent to an outside company that repurposes it into carpet padding.
Excess fiberglass insulation is sent to a home rebuilding center in North Portland and they repurpose it for home use.
To reduce carbon emissions we have consolidated our workweeks to reduce commute times for our employees. We have also partnered with the city of Tualatin and Trimet in offering alternative transportation methods to and from our facility.
Our facility utilizes natural gas as a cleaner alternative to coal and oil for our primary energy source.
We are currently implementing a new LED lighting system to reduce our electrical usage by approximately $150,000.00 per year.
Maintain current permits for hazardous waste disposal with an annual inspection.
